Good Online Resources

Following are links to online resources that I think are useful for studying English and using for our homework assignments. There is a lot of crap on the Internet. The method of studying is more important than how much time you spend studying!!!

This dictionary was specifically written for non-native speakers. It gives extremely simplified definitions of words, along with clear example sentences. I personally think it's the best dictionary on the planet!

BBC 6-Minute English Podcasts
Have you tried watching English films and felt frustrated? Well, this is because watching a film in another language is one of the most difficult things you can do! Telling beginner or intermediate students to learn English this way is the second-worst piece of advice (right after telling them to translate everything). These short podcasts from the BBC are great for everyone between A2 Pre-Intermediate and B2 Upper Intermediate students. They are about everyday topics and short enough to follow, or listen to multiple times to catch the meaning.

Reading Books on the Kindle Platform
I strongly recommending reading as a way to practice the passive skill of reading and for vocabulary acquisition. If you read books in English on the Kindle platform, it will allow you to check the meaning of any word in the book in an English-English dictionary, with just one click! You can download the software onto any desktop, laptop, smart phone or tablet device. The software is free, but you must pay for the books.
